The A. E. E. Method
The A.E.E. method is the set of three steps used to create your own Open Response after reading a passage. By now, the idea of "Answer, Evidence, Explain" has been tattooed on your brain. You may know all of the steps by heart, or you may still be a little fuzzy on how some of them work. On the following pages, there are explanations of each step as well as examples of how to do them correctly. There are also examples that will show common mistakes so that you know what to avoid!
Each step has its own page that will explain the step and show examples. After you read the explanation and examples, scroll down to the list of exercises and choose a few to complete on your own. Some of the exercises are harder than others, and as you get better at constructing each part of an open response, you can challenge yourself by completing the more difficult exercises. Hopefully, by the time you have used the whole website and get to the quiz, you will have become a master at Open Responses and writing in general.
